What’s Recovery Like After Laser Resurfacing?
Once your laser resurfacing treatment is complete, you will be able to return home without any need for an overnight stay. Dr. Sethna will apply any necessary bandages to the treatment site, which you will then need to begin cleaning 4-5 times a day 24 hours after your treatment.
Laser resurfacing will require a bit of downtime as your skin heals itself during the first couple weeks after your treatment. Some swelling is to be expected, and your skin will appear red as with a mild sunburn. Your skin may also feel itchy and may sting a bit during the first few days of healing. Peeling is completely normal and happens about 5-7 days after your initial treatment.
Dr. Sethna will provide you with detailed care instructions to ensure optimal healing of your skin after laser resurfacing.
If you experience any unexpected side effects after treatment, please contact our office immediately.
What Can I Expect for my Laser Resurfacing Results?
- Initial Results at… 1 week
- Final Results at… 2 weeks
- Results last… 6-12 months
Most of Dr. Sethna’s laser resurfacing patients begin seeing results within the first week of treatment. It’s important to keep in mind that any redness, swelling, and peeling is to be expected and are a normal part of the skin’s healing response. As your skin continues to heal, you will begin to notice the final results of your treatment at about two weeks.
