Ptosis Repair in Buckhead and Atlanta

Ptosis can be a congenital or acquired disorder that causes one or both of the upper eyelids to droop downward over the eyes. Patients suffering from ptosis are often self-conscious about their appearance, and in more severe cases, ptosis can cause vision obstruction. Ptosis repair is a minimally invasive reconstructive procedure that helps correct drooping of the upper eyelid using eyelid surgery.

What is Ptosis Repair?

Ptosis repair is a reconstructive procedure that lifts the skin of the upper eyelid in order to correct drooping of one or both eyelids. Dr. Sethna achieves extremely natural-looking results that can dramatically improve the overall appearance and functioning of the upper eyelid(s) suffering from ptosis. This is done via a personalized upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), which reduces excess skin and lifts the upper eyelid to eliminate drooping and clear any vision obstruction.

What is the Ptosis Repair Procedure Like?

You will have a private consultation with Dr. Sethna to discuss your specific concerns as well as your goal outcome. Based on your unique circumstances, Dr. Sethna will customize a procedure plan designed to provide you with your optimal and most natural-looking outcome. She will also provide you with detailed instructions for both before and after your surgery.

This reconstructive surgery is relatively minimally invasive as it deals primarily with the skin of the upper eyelid. Dr. Sethna will make a small incision along the lid in order to remove any excess skin or tissue that might be causing the eyelid to droop downward. She will then carefully tighten and lift the remaining skin in order to bring the lid to a more natural position.

What’s Recovery Like After Ptosis Repair?

Ptosis repair surgery will require a bit of recovery time after your procedure, though specifics will vary from patient to patient. Dr. Sethna will provide you with detailed instructions for caring for your eyes after surgery.

Most eyelid lift patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within the first 1-2 weeks. The majority of bruising and swelling should fade after about three weeks, but you can expect continued improvement as your skin heals over the next few months after your surgery.

If you experience any unexpected side effects after treatment, please contact our office immediately.

You will notice the changes in the look of your eyes immediately after your surgery.
